On-line detection of bead and insulation faults on fine magnet wire during the production process can now be accomplished with a single small detector head. We have added this detector to our Fusion System lineup of enamel inspection capabilities.

After years of experience performing these tests on larger magnet wire and shaped magnet wire, Lear has developed the fine wire version. Special emphasis was placed on the need to minimize mechanical stress on the running wire during testing at very high line speeds while performing extremely sensitive inspection for even the smallest beads and subtle insulation weakness.

Sensitivity beyond human touch is provided for bead detection and HVC faults as small as 1 micro-amp is detected. Wire sizes over the range of AWG #25 to #50 are within the capability of the new detector.

The included photos illustrates the open construction and allowing loading and unloading of the running wire from the detector. The dimensions are this detector head are 7.6” in length, 2.25” in height, and 1.5” in width.
